Eid-ul-adha: stay healthy on this “Meaty Eid”

Bakra Eid-one of the healthiest occasions on Muslim calendar. The festival is enjoyed with great zest and zeal. It is the time of delicacies all around. People remember the sacrifice made by Prophet Abraham and enjoy with everybody, wishing each other & wearing new clothes.

Do not forget to take care of your health. Keep in mind to not eat in excess. Eat healthy and wisely this Bakra Eid!

 

1.       Have a wholesome breakfast

Fill your breakfast with healthy fruits and essential nutrients. Consume low-calorie foods for breakfast so that you can eat through the day.

2.      Control on portion size

Do not binge eat. Small and frequent meals is the key. Eat wisely.

3.      Share what you eat

It is a festival of sharing happiness with one another. Sharing sweets with your family and dear ones is the specialness of this occasion.

4.      Feast on grilled food

Instead of frying food, go for grilling and roasting it. This will prevent consumption of unhealthy fats. Fried meat is a stomach-disaster waiting to happen. Kebabs are an excellent choice of food on Eid.

5.      Go on a walk

Finish off the last meal 2 hours before the sleeping time. After that, go for a walk for almost 30 minutes so that the food is digested and one feels light & healthy.

6.      Detox with green tea

Consume lemon tea or green tea after meal helps detox the liver and raise metabolism.

7.       Avoid fizzy drinks

Avoid carbonated beverages as much as you can. Few experts suggest that these drinks can be dangerous for those having problems of acidity, ulcers in stomach and small intestines.

8.      Drink plenty of water

It’s a fact that if you are eating much more than your regular routine, the simple way to get digest your food properly is drink plenty of water. That keeps your stomach healthy. Also make a big jug of lemonade with a few mint leaves and keep drinking it before indulging in meaty-delights. This will help with digesting food faster.

9.      Eat Fresh fruits

Try to eat fresh fruits that help increase your metabolism before your meal. It is a good way to get your digestive system up and running. Fruits like grapefruit, papaya, oranges, pineapples, peaches and pears serve as perfect appetizers.

10.   Don’t avoid fresh green leafy salads

Pair the meat with fresh green leafy salads. Vegetables will be maintaining water amount in your bodies. Try to use non oily dressings- the crunch with the meat will be scrumptious and healthy. They are also ideal for weight management. Leafy salads also limit any harmful effect of meat. This is a fact that vegetables are much friendly to our stomach.
